paris is our fave city for dogs…parisiens love their dogs and the general rule of thumb is unless there is specifically a no dogs allowed sign, dogs ARE allowed. one irony is that dogs are not allowed in most parks, but that is to preserve the beautiful landscaping and grass. i have been to paris three times now, and these are my picks. STAY
the hoxton paris
perfectly situated in the 2nd arrondismont, staying at the hoxton makes it easy to access le marais, the louvre, jardin tulieries, palais royale, les halles and so much more. the restaurants in the immediate area are some of paris’ best resturaunts like frenchie and septime (and hardest to get a rez at, book at least 1 month before travel). the hotel is beautiful and definitely is a destination for the cool crowd in paris. during the day, you’ll notice stylish people taking business meetings and at night, it flips to a chilled out lounge, complete with an outdoor courtyard.
relevant to OUR interests, the hoxton is completely dog friendly! they provide bowls and a paris guide for pups when you check in - and even left a bag of treats in the shape of the Eiffel tower! i can report the beds are extremely comfortable and our room was quiet. we’d absolutely stay here again! the only note is to be prepared to roll your luggage across a small area with cobblestone.
SHOP
in the 2nd arrondissement (not far from the hotel!) you’ll find flair in the city. this is by far the chicest pet store we’ve come across and has everything from french pet fashion, chic toys, beds, even the food is chic! we discovered a line of pet food here called rockster that ella adored (she decided to stop eating her freeze fried food mid-trip). they also have a gorgeous store-cat named newton who we adored and we aren’t even cat people!

we always stop in this pet store when we’re on the right bank visiting our fave home decor store, fleux. moustaches is where we used to pick up the sort of famous pig toys that big brother louis loved so much. the original pig, napolean, is from this shop. we also have found cute eiffel tower toys and other french themed toys. they have a great carrier selection, but light on the fashion options.

we consider la niche an important stop because they DO have some dog clothing we’ve purchased in the past, but most important, it’s a rock solid basic pet store where you can score any items you may have left at home for decent prices. BHV, aka Bazaar de l'Hotel de Ville, is a department store in central paris that’s a little more accessible than some of the other famous department stores like Le Bon Marché or Galleries Lafayette.

EAT
down the same street from flair in the city, this tiny gem of a donut shop offers vegan donuts that are JUST as good as their non-vegan counterparts (also sold here!). you can shop for your pup and then eat donuts with them. perfect day! best part, aside from the super yummy donuts (no seriously, check out their IG), is the family owned shop has it’s own little rescue dog! we all made friends and i enjoyed sniffing the donuts, the humans would not let me have a lick. rude.

this goop recommended french bistrot is all the things you think of when dreaming of a night out in paris. the food is solid, decor is classic and they were extraordinarily bean friendly. we would absolutely go back!

to be very clear, if you want french food, don’t come to echo. the california hipster vibe is totally straight out of williamsburg or venice in LA, but honestly, hipsters in paris are just so much chicer. so you definitely should go and people watch while you enjoy sipping on your matcha latte with oat milk and eating your avocado toast.
find it: 95 rue d’Aboukir 75002 Paris
this cafe is iconic, it opened in the 1880s and is one of the oldest coffee houses in paris. you aren’t really coming here for the pricey (and average) food though, it’s all about the ambience and the famous people you might see. i mean, pablo picasso hung out here! in front of the famous art deco sign, tourists and instagrammers are taking selfies and tasking their significant others to take pix, because really, isn’t it all for the ‘gram? joking aside, we always stop here to load up on caffeine when we are on the left bank because the first time the humans went to paris, they had their first meal here (awwww).

if you are on the left bank and in need of some classic french food, skip cafe de flore and head across the street to Brasserie Lipp. the food is solid and the restaurant itself was totally bean friendly. don’t miss the mashed potatoes!

prime chic french fashion (and dog) watching at this cafe in Palais Royale situated overlooking the park. it’s human’s fave spot to grab a matcha before hitting Rue Saint-Honoré for some luxury shopping, or the Louvre for some art.

excellent pastries and a chill vibe on the left bank, also extra bean friendly! i wasn’t the only pup hanging out. highly recommend for both food and atmosphere.

famous for their bread, but don’t miss their pastries and cookies. multiple locations, very bean friendly.
find it: 8 our fave location is Rue du Cherche-Midi
if you can make it happen, stick around in Paris on a sunday and wander this amazing certified organic open market, check out the gorgeous produce and no matter what, find the guy who is making fresh, hot potato gallettes from les Gallatins. you can find him right on the corner of cherce midi and blvd raspail. we love these galettes so much, we make it a point to be in paris on a sunday and we’ve come back to burn our tongues on these delish fried potato and onion pancakes for years. if you are airbnb’ing, it’s a must to shop here and stock up on bread, fruit, pre made organic food and more.
find it: sundays only, opens 7am - 2:30PM, Boulevard Raspail, 75006 Paris, France
it’s paris so there’s literally an opportunity for pastries every where you look. make the calories #worthit and head up to the tippy top of the marais and eat literally anything and everything from this boulangerie. pro tip: this is the best place to start a long day of shopping in the marais and work your way down toward the seine. make sure you stalk their instagram and come mostly prepared for what you want to order, this place is super local and has no patience for tourists. still worth it.

OK this is ONLY ONE OF TWO recs on this list that you cannot bring your dog too. it’s THAT good that it’s still on the bean guide. i obvi haven’t been, but lady has gone on her last four trips to paris and can’t get enough. i know what you are thinking…middle eastern food in paris? YES. GO. and you need to book one month in advance or forget about it, it’s super hard to get in if you don’t plan in advance. order the kubane bread. tip: do not go for breakfast, it’s just a regular hotel breakfast. lunch has a good menu, but dinner is the most fun when the staff is likely to start a party during your meal. come early (or stay after) and have a drink in the super chic bar!

the second rec on our list we wouldn’t rec bringing your dog to is this little restaurant with shareable plates and the best fried chicken the humans have ever had. from the same people who own verjus (much fancier, still yummy!).
